National Board Spotlight
Each month we feature one of the members of the Delta Xi Phi National Board. Our NB Spotlight for March is Alumnae Liaison, Jessica “Kipaji” Smith!
Jessica has been a member of the DXP National Board since she was appointed as Alumnae Liaison in October 2013. She was a founding sister at the Psi Associate Chapter at Wake Forest University, and held several officer positions there until she graduated in 2013 with a bachelor of arts degree in Sociology.
“My favorite time as an active is when we would just have girls’ night. I’m very close with my line sisters and they continue to be important people in my life today.”
This value of sisterhood rings true as Jessica recently served as a member of her line sister’s bridal party!
After graduation Jessica left North Carolina for Boston, where she is an Administrative Assistant at the MIT Sloan School of Management. “I don’t need a car and there’s always something to do,” she says of her new “manageable” city. She encourages sisters not to be scared to move to a new city. Her advice? “There will likely be a sister there! Don’t forget to tap into your network.”
In her free time, Jessica enjoys hanging out with friends, family, traveling and shopping. She also mentors every other week, which allows her to give back to the community and continue fulfilling DXP’s pillar of community service after graduation.
Sisters can look forward to meeting Jessica at DXP National Convention 2015. In the meantime, you can reach out to her via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
