Lea Madry steps up to serve with Step Up Women’s Network!

Written by Alumnae Liaison, Lea Madry

One of my favorite service experiences in Chicago has been with the Step Up Women’s Network. Step Up is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to inspiring women to inspire girls; its mission is to propel girls from under-resourced communities to fulfill their potential by empowering them to become confident, college-bound, career-focused, and ready to join the next generation of professional women.

A recent event that I participated in is Step Up’s annual “I Dream To” Mentor Day in Chicago. The day, part of Step Up’s celebration of National Mentoring Month, focused on career inspiration and exploration. The incredible 10th grader who I had the privilege to mentor inspires to be an attorney and businesswoman, mentoring the next generation of underserved youth; I am quite positive that she inspired me more than I inspired her! All of the mentors and mentees took pictures representing our dreams (see above).

Thanks for sharing your service, Lea! To find out more about Step Up Women’s Network, visit their website. You can learn more about National Mentoring Month at this link.
