Eta Sister named Greek Junior of the Year

Eta sister Samira Payne was surprised and excited to be named Greek Junior of the Year during Marquette University’s Greek Awards Ceremony earlier this month.

Marquette University Greek Life and the Office of Student Development honored Payne on May 3 as an Outstanding and Inspirational Greek in the community.

“I know that a number of other students have made great contributions to the Marquette Community as well,” she said. “Yet, I was proud to represent Delta Xi Phi and thankful to my sisters for challenging me to do my best!”

Delta Xi Phi has played a huge role in her college experience and the person that she is striving to become.

“I have put so much love into all the things I do with DXP and I appreciate the recognition,” said Payne who became a member of the sorority on Dec. 6, 2008. “I am so proud to be a member of this magnificent organization.”

Each day she learns something new about what one of the sorority’s chapters is doing and achievements that individual sisters have made. She also reflects on seeing the sisterhood expand to different colleges and universities across the nation.

“I am inspired and encouraged just thinking about it!” Payne said.

Congratulations are also in order for the Eta Associate Chapter. The chapter won a health and fitness award at the ceremony that landed them $700 for programming next year!
