Sisters from the Midwest met up together the weekend of April 16th to take part in the Regional Retreat at Bowling Green State University. The sisters of the Xi Associate Chapter played hostesses for a weekend full of business, sisterhood, and fun.
Members from the Delta, Xi, and Phi Associate Chapters met in Bowling Green, Ohio, along with National President, Vicki Nelson, and Midwest Regional Advisor, Brandie Morris. Sisters came in Friday night and spent Saturday at the retreat.
The retreat started with an icebreaker game to get the sisters comfortable and excited. Then, each chapter discussed fundraising and other events they held that were either successful or not. Sisters then played a exciting game of “Picturades,” a combination of Pictionary and Charades, before breaking for lunch.
After lunch, sisters continued to discuss sorority issues, like recruitment and ideas for growing, before breaking off and meeting with Nelson and Morris separately, as chapters.
Although the ladies of the Phi Associate Chapter had to leave Saturday night, the sisters from Delta and Xi Associate Chapters spent the remaining part of Saturday bonding while making DXP t-shirts.
While only three chapters in the Midwest were able to meet together that weekend, the retreat was an overall success. Sisters from different parts of the region were able to meet and talk about successes and areas of improvement while tossing around ideas and suggestions to other sisters.
“It’s a great feeling when you come together with girls who you’ve never met or have seen a couple of times and instantly you are sisters and share not only the same pillars but the same region of the country,” said Kimberly Longo, Delta sister.
