April showers may be in the forecast, but the future of Delta Xi Phi Multicultural Sorority remains bright as sisters across the country prepare to celebrate the 16th anniversary of the sorority’s founding. This month also marks the founding of the Rho Associate Chapter, which has a week of events planned to celebrate multiculturalism. The chapter is hosting Multicultural Awareness Week April 19-23 at the University of New Hampshire.
MCAW will be held at the university’s Memorial Union Building. The purpose of the weeklong event is to create open environments in which topics such as feminism, race, sexual identity, sexual preference, ethnicity, religion and immigration can be discussed openly. The event also aims to bring issues to the surface that fly below the radar and provide an enjoyable environment that is empowering as well as engaging.
The chapter, which began planning this year’s event in January, is using MCAW to show the community who the sisters of Delta Xi Phi are and what we stand for. So please join us as we celebrate multiculturalism in 2010. All events are free and open to the public.
